Game Supervisor Matt "Cryptic" O'Keefe announced the news on clanbase.com alongside the release of the latest PAM version. O'Keefe mentioned "the problems the game has had with the skorpion", undoubtedly referring to the well-known issues when attaching a silencer modification to the weapon. "The gun has now been disabled within the ClanBase Call Of Duty 4 ruleset until there is a fix for the gun" he explained.

The decision has been met with general approval from all levels of the community and brings the ClanBase ruleset in line with Crossfire's latest release for CDC4. Crossfire director Stuart Saw told GotFrag he was pleased to hear the news, saying "I think its a good move that they've removed the skorpion, the gun was just a mistake".
