Counter-Strike: Excello loses CS team

By: Luis Mira - Published July 11, 2008 at 3:26 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Team Excello and its Finnish Counter-Strike team have decided to part ways by mutual consent.
This decision comes in the wake of the squad's participation at ESWC Masters, where it crashed out of the tournament in the group stage, finishing in third place in its group, behind SK Gaming and emuLate.

The team was never able to make its mark at Excello, pulling disappointing campaigns in the international events attended, such as DTS-CUP or ASUS Winter 2008.

According to the official announcement, the team and the Excello organization had a meeting right after ESWC Masters in which "it became clear that that both sides didn't share the same vision for the future."

Excello plan on focusing on World of Warcraft, while the Counter-Strike team is expected to continue playing together in a new organization.

Excello had the following line-up:

Finland Konsta "kookas" Kaisla
Finland Matti "SPIKEONE" Jarvinen
Finland Janne "Kuppi" Kuparinen
Finland Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen
Finland Joona "natu" Leppanen
