but yeah this is rediculous, purely a russian grab at oil. russia has been looking for an excuse to take the oil fields in georgia ever since the end of the cold war. just to give some confused people the scope of whats going on.
1992- rebels in south Ossatia begin governing themselves and the georgian government was too weak too stop them. Now its 16 years later and many of the georgians are battle-tested veterans(over a division of them were in iraq at the peak of their involvement, 2,000 currently), not to mention the U.S marine corps has been training them personally in georgia alot recently. So with that type of experience and training in the military the georgian president thought he could take the provinces back finally. They could take the provinces back if the rebels were alone and the rebels know it. So they have called for russian aid and russia wants more oil fields so they have "intervened to help", which is completely rediculous, once the rebels realize that the russians have no intention of allowing them to self-govern and do things there way the south ossatians will turn their province into another chechnya.
i really hope the russians dont make the mistake of trying to take all of georgia, if you think the iraqi insurgency is bad, wait to see what a bunch of angry eastern european people can do.
