Quake: Triple Threat Semi-Finals

By: Joe Szymkowicz - Published October 24, 2007 at 6:23 PM EDT - Writer Archive
After eight weeks of intense group play and a first round of playoffs, we are left with only 4 teams.

Well, it's been a long tournament, filled with intense matches and close finshes, but the Triple Threat CTF/TDM Tournament has finally arrived at the Semi-Finals round and are left with two matches before the Grand Finals.

United States Destrophy versus United States Negative Influence
United States lolZ versus United States e.Quality

Though I think the DST/-i match will be close, the main event for the night will obviously be lolZ versus eQ. With names like bigwig, viju, rebo, frank and vamp1re possibly playing in a TDM map, it's easy to understand that this will be the match to watch. And with a ticket to Grand Finals on the line, both teams will surely be playing in top form, giving spectators a great show. Who will win this match? Well it's hard to say. It really comes down to who sticks to their game and who drops the ball; with two teams of these caliber, it could go either way. I guess you'll just have to stick around and watch.

As for the match between Negative Influence and Destropy, last time these two met in Regular Season, -i was able to win pretty convincingly over DST in two maps. -i's mix of CTF and TDM players really make them a natural choice in this match. Unless something goes horribly wrong or KGB, I mean nitsud, can carry this team on his own, playing both offense and defense on CTF and raking in 300 frags in TDM on his own, I'm forecasting a -i victory in this one.
